The National Catholic Reporter has detailed events at the Bishops’ meeting in New Orleans.  Law professor Helen  Alvare’, who spoke at the assembly,  wonders if the government will continue to agree with the USCCB that it is  ‘eminently possible and good‘ for the Church to partner with public authority.

Fr. Bernard Adura of the Pontifical Council of Sciences has been tasked with honoring the centennial of the death of Pope St. Pius X through research, teaching, and perhaps some revision?  Apparently history has neglected the pope’s true legacy.  “He was remembered as a Pope of condemnation, but, instead was truly a great reformer, a great innovator. Yes, he condemned modernism, but he, in fact, was very modern.”  When asked if he found any similarities between Pope Pius X and Francis, Fr. Adura responded, “There are. There absolutely are,” even claiming that they look alike.

Gates of Vienna is reporting that the Pope’s Peace-Prayer event in the Vatican Gardens included an Islamic prayer calling for ‘victory over infidels‘.  An Arabic-speaking ex-Muslim blogger claims that the segment has been edited from the official Vatican tape.

Pope Francis revealed that his Peace-Prayer event in Rome had almost no support in the Vatican.  Less that 1% agreed with him at first but that figure began to grow when they realized he was going through with it.

Reporting on the USCCB Meeting in New Orleans, the New York times suggests the bishops are following Francis by being more humble.  NOLA Bishop Gregory Aymond recommends that they continue to talk more about the poor, the economy, and maybe reach out to those with disabilities.
