Did he write it or didn’t he. That is the question. If it were faked why the omitted paragraph? If faked why does that paragraph exist at all? It seems more than improbable that the fakers would write such a paragraph and then find it necessary to hide and omit it. It just wouldn’t be there to begin with. If he did indeed write it then it does show a disturbing continuity between the two papacies. An endorsement of sorts, if not a ringing one. But it is not his style….maybe not…shows a little darker or greyer side in some of his remarks…so, maybe a mask is being slightly lifted something we haven’t seen before, a little removal of the polish. Just conjecturing. Only Benedict can answer the question whether he wrote it or not. If he is being so basely defrauded then now is the time to speak up even in an obscure way if they are holding hot irons to his head. Total silence would signal consent.
I think it’s just like when you’re boss tells you to write some letter or some proposal, then they are all over the things you say…Benedict is basically like a low level employee around there.
Maybe Georg Ganswein, Benedicts body man, ghostwrote it after the 11 volume package arrived requesting his endorsement. That would explain the defensive clumsy feint-praise phrasing as the best that GG could come up with for Benedict’s signature.
