Hello Frank. I have been a Trad Catholic since the 1980s, and of an extreme kind. I haven’t favored a pope since prior to John XXIII. I look to your Canon212 almost daily, to find news topics worth examining further. I must tell you that your remarks about Steve Skojec;s posts, and those with similar opinions, are inappropriate and unworthy of thoughtful Catholic discussion . As I mentioned, I am displeased about popes for decades, and I am not a particular fan of Steve, but you should at least acknowledge that Ann Barnhardt’s claims are subject to reasoned argument, as are many opinion pieces of others. Those of us who don’t claim Francis an antipope (or whatever title chosen) do not necessarily ‘have our heads in the sand’ but may actually have educated reasons for not disclaiming him. That doesn’t mean everyone like me loves him. I wish he was gone yesterday, or 5 years ago. However, you are doing a great disservice to possibly half or more of your readers who disagree with the ‘Bergolio is not pope’ stance. And I truly believe that saying it repeatedly is not going to make him not be the pope. Readers like me will tire of reading your headlines due to the apparent bating of ‘deniers’ of the anti-pope thesis.

I’m not ‘baiting’ people. And I’m not against ‘reasoned argument.’ I just don’t think Steve is applying it to Ann’s conclusions. Instead he’s smearing her and others. It’s not personal. It’s just a dirty job he’s doing.
It doesn’t put you outside the Church to think Benedict’s abdication was forced or erroneous. It certainly doesn’t make you schismatic to hold doubts about Francis’s validity when you consider the precarious context and the fact that he’s not Catholic. I don’t assume Francis isn’t pope, but I don’t discount those who doubt. They have very good reasons.
In 1949 Pius Xll endorsed a pronouncement on the catholic position on communism. Anyone who embraced this Godless movement that was sweeping the world, was ipso facto excommunicated. Now we have a pope that openly embraces communism. If a catholic cries out treason, some of his own will condemn him, for not being thoughtful. So I, a nobody, who cries treason, am lumped in as a one who cannot question the papacy no matter how much it contradicts the past.
