True charity requires relationship between the giver and the receiver. The giver gives not only from his resources but from his self. The receiver not only receives material resources but the intangible personal “other”.
Reduce charity down to an economic equation, as they do in communism, and all you have is a money transaction: take from Comrade A; give to Comrade B.
Allow charity to flower as God intended and there is a relationship, greater or lesser, between giver and receiver. Part of that relationship is economic. Part of that relationship is personal. It is just, because it is of free will. It is godly because this charity is based in Charity.
Communism is the inverse opposite of the Kingdom of Heaven. It is sterile and it is compulsory – based on power. Giving is resented at the point of a gun.
The Kingdom of Heaven is fruitful and voluntary. Love, Charity, is the coin of this realm. Giving is based in free will and relationship.
