The SSPX chapel in Portland, Oregon is relocating Aug 1st to Vancouver, WA near where I live. In response to this, the archdiocese of Seattle sent a memo this past Sunday to most, if not all, N.O. parishes in the Vancouver area warning them to not attend the new chapel because their “sacraments are not valid” and they have ” no canonic status.” They are obviously worried after the recent move of Pope Francis persecuting traditional Catholics. Thanks for the heads up. It is always good to meet charges like these head on, and see whether they are legitimate, legal from the Church treasury of Tradition.
So – these are the charges leveled against the Society of St. Pius X, by the Seattle Archdiocese:
Not in union with the Pope.
Excommunicated
No canonical status
Sacraments unlawful, invalid
Does not recognize the authority of the Pope
Rather than summarize or interpret responses to these calumnies, I will simply link to the official Society responses from their own web site. They can speak for themselves. They have been dealing with the same charges leveled at them since their founding which was *specifically*, by the words of their founder Arbp LeFebvre, in response to the many heresies and deviations with which Vatican II Constitutions and surrounding “spirit” infected Holy Mother Church.
Those promoting or just accepting heterodoxy are not compatible with those who stand firmly in defense of orthodox Catholic religion. And so – conflict for almost 40 years.

One item I left out in my response – importantly the SSPX *firmly asserts* and *insists* they *are* in union with the Pope and with Vatican II, *to the extent* they are in union with constant Church Magisterial Dogmatic teaching. To the extent they are not, they stand on the side of Dogma against heresy.
Every Catholic should, *must*, do the same.
Hello Aqua. This is Alan aka anonymous. Must have hit a wrong button because I did not intend to be anonymous. I live in Camas, WA. You were the one who informed me (a few months ago) about Our Lady of Fatima moving to Vancouver. The new location is great. The first mass was celebrated there on Corpus Christi, which I attended. They are permanently moving there this weekend. I was not surprised by the memo in the N.O. bulletins this past Sunday. You are right; it is the same old arguments. I saw that Frank posted the story in today’s news, which was great! Thank you for the links and God bless.

We may have been neighbors it seems, if it hadn’t been for that Covid thingy which compelled me to move my large tribe to what we feel is safety (would have been impossible to imagine such words about fleeing my government escaping my lips when I served my country way back in the day).
