I came across this little gem of an article titled: True Obedience vs False Obedience, written by “Padre Peregrino” of the Pilgrim Priest blog.

I felt compelled to share, to hi-light, to spread, to get the word out. The vast majority of the members of our Church are lost down wrong, heretical, paths because they don’t understand this fundamental precept: True Obedience, vs False Obedience.
It is lazy and spiritually weak to rely on what almost every Catholic promotes as the summary of their faith: obey the Pope given to us by the Cardinals, obey the Bishops in union with him – whatever he says, we will do.
But that is not our mission statement as Catholics. We are to follow Jesus Christ, with our own Cross on our shoulders, to His Calvary. We are to die with Him, for love of Him. *NORMALLY*, *normally* we go down these Catholic paths with our Pope and with all the Bishops in union with him. But these are not normal times, as evidenced (in part, and as precedent) by a new title never seen before in the history of Christendom – Pope “Emeritus”. And in these times the paths of Christ and the paths of this “Pope” and Bishops in union with him diverge, increasingly and fatally diverge.
And so – how do we know what we are to do, as Catholics in which obedience to hierarchical authority (rightly ordered) is foundational?
