Wow.
How about we don’t judge his conversion, one way or another? Potentially, it’s real. How is it, then, for any new convert to see “fellow Catholics” take your public profession (perhaps it’s real, perhaps not … we don’t know) of Catholic faith and visciously reduce you to a caricature of con. Does she know something about him, personally? How can she say any of that?
It truly boggles my mind, how anyone can take a new converts testimony and trash him like that. If he is a con … *and Maureen is right* … so what? Does it damage the Faith to have a movie star make a false profession? I’ve seen worse sacrelige from Clerics and Bishops. But if he is not, and he’s a true blue new Catholic convert … this sort of public scorn and trashing and ridicule of his personal and professional life as proof of his dishonesty … that’s really detrimental to the Faith – both to the object himself and to any others interested in possible conversion who might be watching and observing we Christians – who we say are consumed by Love, Charity toward God *who forgave and forgives us* and also toward our neighbor who is a sinner just like us – in need of Jesus on the Cross.
Furthermore – Why does it seem so important to some to take a position one way or another on Shia LeBoeuf? Is he baptized? Catechized? Confirmed? By who? I don’t think he’s any of those. So that puts him in the non-Catholic category, right there – a Postulant at best, still outside looking in. And if he is Baptized and Confirmed (I honestly don’t know), then *what* he is as Catholic is between him and his Priest and Bishop. What business is that of ours? Our business is to meet God regularly in Confession and deal with our own sins and hypocrisies.
I guess that’s my point about Shia LeBoeuf. Pre-judging without facts. Not my business.
