Following the readings of the day, the Holy Father reflected on the place of poverty in the Gospel, saying that the Gospel becomes incomprehensible if poverty is removed from it, and that it is unfair to label priests who show a pastoral concern for the poor as, \u201cCommunists\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>How is it that the work of Christ is meaningless if it&#8217;s not all about the poor?\u00a0 It&#8217;s not. It&#8217;s only &#8216;incomprehensible&#8217; to Francis and to his &#8220;Yoda of Catholicism,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.radiovaticana.va\/news\/2015\/06\/09\/fr_gustavo_guti%C3%A9rrez__poverty_is_death\/1149673\" target=\"_blank\">Gustavo Gutierrez<\/a>.\u00a0 Every faithful Catholic since Christ has understood the Gospels without this hysterical poverty crusade.\u00a0 That&#8217;s a new thing.<\/p>\n<p>Still, why re-attach the Communist label?<\/p>\n<p>Francis brings this label up himself time and again in the hopes he can shoot it down.\u00a0 Because it fits.\u00a0 That&#8217;s the problem with liberalism.\u00a0 Its labels are apt so they employ word police.\u00a0 Just trying saying &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.poynter.org\/news\/mediawire\/348387\/ap-deletes-tweet-using-male-pronoun-promoting-caitlyn-jenner-story\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mr. Jenner<\/a>,&#8217; or noting that women can be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/science\/2015\/jun\/13\/tim-hunt-hung-out-to-dry-interview-mary-collins\" target=\"_blank\">lachrymose<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the 1<sup>st<\/sup> reading, which tells\u00a0 of how St. Paul \u00a0organized a collection in the Church of Corinth, for the benefit of \u00a0to the Church of Jerusalem, whose members were facing great hardship. Pope Francis noted that, today as then, poverty is \u201ca word that always embarrasses.\u201d Many times, he said, we hear: \u201cBut this priest talks too much about poverty, this bishop speaks of poverty, this Christian, this nun talks about poverty &#8230; aren\u2019t they a little communist, right?\u201d On the contrary, he warned, \u201cPoverty is at the very center of the Gospel: if we remove poverty from the Gospel, no one would be able to understand anything about the message of Jesus.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Straw Man: When priests or nuns speak of poverty no one calls them Communists.\u00a0 They call them Communists when they promote statism, forced redistribution, and endless unjust policy goals in the name of &#8216;social justice.&#8217;\u00a0 <em>That<\/em> happens all the time, and <em>that<\/em> is Communist!<\/p>\n<p>Then Pope Francis repeats one of his slogans yet again.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When faith does not reach the pockets it is not genuine.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m no Communist.\u00a0 I only want to reach into your pocket so you can be a real Christian!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why does Pope Francis keep talking about Communists?\u00a0 I thought there weren&#8217;t any Communists any more.\u00a0 Even China has a competitive market with worldwide manufacturing.\u00a0 Russia has the most pro-Christian government in the world today, and Raul Castro loves Pope Francis so much he&#8217;s ready to seriously become a Catholic maybe.
