UPDATE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>UPDATE: Reports this morning, 2\/15\/2016,\u00a0 say that Justice Scalia was found with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/news\/local\/article\/Texas-ranch-owner-recalls-Scalia-s-last-hours-6830372.php\" target=\"_blank\">a pillow over his head<\/a> and shows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/texas-tv-station-scalia-died-of-a-heart-attack\/2016\/02\/14\/938e2170-d332-11e5-9823-02b905009f99_story.html\" target=\"_blank\">no evidence<\/a> of having had a heart attack.\u00a0 &#8220;County Judge Cinderela Guevara pronounced Scalia dead of natural causes without seeing the body \u2014 which is permissible under Texas law.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>*********<\/p>\n<p>In a world where millions of infants are murdered and people are now being openly euthanized, is it absurd to think that good <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-3445976\/Associate-Justice-Antonin-Scalia-dies-natural-causes-luxury-Texas-resort-aged-79.html?printingPage=true\" target=\"_blank\">Justice Antonin Scalia<\/a> may have died on purpose?\u00a0 I&#8217;m not saying it&#8217;s likely or unlikely.\u00a0 But is it ridiculous?\u00a0 We will certainly hear that now.\u00a0 Whatever the coroner rules will be the case of course, when that happens.<\/p>\n<p>When Al Gore tried to steal the 2000 election, they threw it to the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bush_v._Gore\" target=\"_blank\">Court<\/a>.\u00a0 Is 2016 heading there too?\u00a0 Matt Drudge said recently that the supremes are getting ready to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2015\/10\/07\/matt_drudge_i_had_a_supreme_court_justice_say_it_is_over_for_me.html\" target=\"_blank\">move decisively against<\/a> the free press.\u00a0 There are many important cases pending and the Republicans don&#8217;t actually reassure about delaying an appointment.\u00a0 Instead they sound, to me, very weak, like a <a href=\"http:\/\/bigstory.ap.org\/article\/7cf14793b99b4ffe9aebe16feba91d80\/latest-and-then-there-were-6-gop-2016-field-narrows\" target=\"_blank\">bunch of babies<\/a> confined to a daycare and helpless.<\/p>\n<p>When Benedict abdicated the papacy three years ago this week, was it really just because he wasn&#8217;t feeling <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/magazine-25121121\" target=\"_blank\">vigorous<\/a>?\u00a0 That certainly worked out.\u00a0 Francis is apparently much more vigorous, but Benedict was never that way.\u00a0 Benedict never expressed anything that wasn&#8217;t carefully prepared, scholarly, powerful, and very clear.\u00a0 He was extremely vigorous about communicating the truth, but he was never vigorous like Francis.<\/p>\n<p>Francis is also a very effective communicator.\u00a0 He blasts out words and images in a mesmerizing way that permits him to inject a potent drop of poison into his victims while they are befuddled.\u00a0 He has an army of first-rate spinners creating the <a href=\"http:\/\/whatisupwiththesynod.com\/index.php\/2016\/02\/13\/overture-curtain-lights-its-the-missionaries-of-mercy-hour\/\" target=\"_blank\">FrancisShow<\/a> for all the world and he just needs to put his two feet on the spot blocked-out on stage, then blurt.<\/p>\n<p>He travels the world and its worst tyrants, politicians, and bishops flock to meet him.\u00a0 The media faux-reports the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2016\/02\/12\/world\/americas\/ap-lt-pope-patriarch-the-latest.html\" target=\"_blank\">roaring crowds<\/a>, but the cities are always locked-down and the merchants <a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2015\/09\/28\/phillys-mayor-media-scared-people-away-from-pope\/\" target=\"_blank\">disillusioned<\/a>.\u00a0 Every now and then when this happens, one figure in his triumphant joy will tell the truth about Francis.\u00a0 We remember people like Bolivia&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/bigstory.ap.org\/article\/89af3661093644c5a2dd7b24d9479aa7\/morales-calls-pope-francis-teachings-socialist\" target=\"_blank\">Morales<\/a>, Raul <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cruxnow.com\/church\/2015\/05\/10\/raul-castro-i-like-this-pope-so-much-i-might-become-catholic-again\/\" target=\"_blank\">Castro<\/a>, and particularly, Barack <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-3246181\/Obama-lavishes-praise-Pope-policies-share-thanks-Catholic-leader-support-Cuba-climate-change-immigration.html?printingPage=true\" target=\"_blank\">Obama<\/a>.\u00a0 The fact that men like these praise Francis so profusely is quite the condemnation really.\u00a0 Is it for his Christian witness?<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday the left-wing mayor of Dallas, Mike Rawlings, announced he will travel to frightening Juarez, Mexico to participate in <a href=\"http:\/\/cityhallblog.dallasnews.com\/2016\/02\/dallas-mayor-mike-rawlings-to-attend-popes-border-mass-at-request-of-ciudad-juarezs-mayor.html\/\" target=\"_blank\">Francis&#8217; Border Stunt<\/a>.\u00a0 He also said some very revealing things.<\/p>\n<p>The Dallas Morning News reports:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI am not a big person to go meet famous people, but the Pope isn\u2019t famous,\u201d Rawlings said with a small laugh. \u201cHe\u2019s <em>the pope<\/em>. And this being a bi-national, cross-border event is a very cool idea. To participate in that is an exciting thing.\u201d<span id=\"more-53215\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The event is being portrayed as a restoration\u00a0party for a city long seen\u00a0as a\u00a0blood-drenched, drug-fueled murder capital. Media reports in recent weeks have noted its steep drop in homicides, and a wholesale clean-up effort that has taken place since the pope\u2019s visit was announced last fall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCiudad Ju\u00e1rez is not just safer, it\u2019s booming: new restaurants, car showrooms and other businesses are sprouting,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2016\/feb\/11\/a-new-era-for-juarez-popes-visit-hails-optimism-for-a-city-ravaged-by-drug-wars\" target=\"_blank\">reported the <em>Guardian<\/em> earlier this week<\/a>. \u201cStreets once deserted after dark now have shoppers and diners. Theatrical productions, including the <em>Vagina Monologues<\/em>, have revived.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not only did the FrancisEffect make Juarez a completely different place overnight, but now they even find Mexican women to perform that miserable lesbian love story!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe whole border issue continues to be a fractious thing, and if the pope can build some bridges across that border,\u201d Rawlings said, \u201cI think that\u2019s a very important step.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rawlings, who attends First Presbyterian Church in downtown Dallas, until recently served on the Board of Trustees of Jesuit College Preparatory, from which his son Gunnar graduated in 2007. Gunnar then embarked on a series of teaching jobs at Catholic schools in Denver and Dallas, including Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He&#8217;s a Democrat who wants more illegal aliens, he&#8217;s a Presbyterian on the board of a local Jesuit college, and the Archdiocese gives his son jobs.\u00a0 This is a Pope Francis pillar of the Catholic community!\u00a0 But Rawlings has been dealing with the &#8216;church&#8217; for a long time.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Rawlings spoke Friday night about being taught by Jesuits at Boston College, of being steeped in the liberation theology that, simply put, says it\u2019s necessary to commingle religion and politics to end poverty.<\/p>\n<p>Pope Francis \u201cis living that in the contemporary way,\u201d Rawlings said. \u201cWe\u2019re big fans of his. We were thrilled when he was announced, and he\u2019s lived up to those expectations.
