That vitriol against Michael Matt is pretty unnecessary. He’s clearly anything but a fan of Francis. Many people might remember the “good” bits and pieces of the JPII pontificate, but it’s easy to forget that he gladly received the blessing of a voodoo witch doctor, called down the protection of St. John the Baptist for the religion of Islam, kissed the Koran, prayed at the Talmudic altar alongside Jews in Rome, etc. etc. etc. Even Assisi is probably among his insignificant failings as Pope. These incidents may have been less public due to absence of the constant newsfeed ticker of the Twitter-era internet, but they live in infamy as part of the post-conciliar lie that presents itself as the Catholic Church. It would be wise, in my opinion, to admit where Michael Matt may be correct about JPII, and then to point out where you perceive his inconsistencies with respect to Francis might lie. God bless you, Frank, keep up the good work you do. Would that all Catholics be blessed with your passion and zeal for the faith.

Thank you. It’s not Mr. Matt’s awareness of JPII’s scandals that I find troubling. It’s the unfair and destructive equivalency, and the dampening effect it has. Maybe in the future he’ll try not to give that impression.

I neglected to praise the Remnant’s excellent call a few years back for the White House to investigate any possible intervention in the conclave, and their early and strong support for Trump in 2016.

He could certainly be harder on Francis, but I believe among traditionalists today there is a certain complacency in dealing with heresy among the conciliar hierarchy, after having denounced their errors constantly for the past 50 years or more since the council. It’s as if traditional Catholics have already opted for Rod Dreher’s “Benedict option” and headed for the comfort of their own enclaves. It frustrates me, too, because now we need a more vigorous militant than ever but I understand where the attitude comes from.
