MAKE IT SO, JOHN ALLEN! MAKE IT SO!
THE HISTORY OF THE ASSUMPTION – AND WHY IT’S A HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION
SAINT OF THE ASSUMPTION
KNIGHTS ON NEW BLUE UNIFORM: WE’VE BEEN TESTING AND TALKING ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS. YOU CAN WEAR THE SWORD IF YOU WANT, SO LONG AS YOU WEAR THE WHITE GLOVES TOO.
WAS CHARLOTTESVILLE SORT OF, CREATED?
FRANCIS ALMOST SOUNDS CATHOLIC DURING ANGELUS, UNTIL THE OLD LUTHERAN SLIPS OUT
ESCALATED VIOLENCE: YOU CAN BE ON THE RIGHT, YOU CAN TRY TO HAVE YOUR CLUBS AND BUILD YOUR CATHEDRALS, BUT THE LEFT WILL COME ALONG AND KICK DOWN YOUR SANDCASTLE.
CONCERNING THE NEW IMMIGRATION BILL TO BE DELIBERATED BY CONGRESS WHEN IT RETURNS FROM ITS AUGUST RECESS, IT SHOULD BE EMPHASIZED THAT IMMIGRATION INTO THE U.S. IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT.
DO YOU REALLY THINK ANTIFA WERE THE GOOD GUYS IN CHARLOTTE?
AND PLEASE LEAVE POOR GENERAL LEE ALONE. A WONDERFUL SOLDIER AND PATRIOT THAT EVERY NATION WOULD BE PROUD TO CALL HIS OWN, AND AN ABOLITIONIST TO BOOT.
HEY BISHOPS, HOW ABOUT THIS FOR A SOLUTION: GO BACK TO THE TIME TESTED PRACTICE OF CONFESSIONAL BOOTHS! OF COURSE, THEY WILL NOT BECAUSE ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN A RETURN TO TRADITION.
THE BEAR DOES NOT DOUBT THAT FRANCIS IS POPE, YET HE IS SORE PERPLEXED
More than curious is the fact that the chief organizer for the Alt-Right protest in Charlottsville was Jason Kessler. It seems 5 years ago Jason was working for CNN and was also a big Obama supporter….then a couple of years ago he had a red pill epiphany and went on to set up the VA. event. What a conversion! He made sure there would be nutty rights invited so as to smear the entire protest. It was a left wing trap. Seems like left wing traps from the Vatican on down through the controlled catholic media and the mainstream media are the order of the day. Everywhere my enemies are laying snares and traps, they want to take my life, the wicked lie in their beds plotting evil, to paraphrase the psalmist.
I like the say you say things. You hit every nail.
It gives me a whole new light on the ignorance of VC2 bloggers to hear you belligerently claim that neither you nor your children know the Holy Days of Obligation nor how to find them out–usually every parish hands out a Catholic Calendar every Christmas–which BTW is the most easily memorable holy day of obligation. Also you have an obligation to do no servile work, but to keep the day holy like the Sabbath Day (on pain of mortal sin).
1) January 1, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God

Whenever January 1, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, or August 15, the solemnity of the Assumption, or November 1, the solemnity of All Saints, falls on a Saturday or on a Monday, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated.
This decree of the Conference of Bishops was approved and confirmed by the Apostolic See by a decree of the Congregation for Bishops (Prot. N. 296/84), signed by Bernardin Cardinal Gantin, prefect of the Congregation, and dated July 4, 1992.

“because attendance at Ascension Thursday Masses had been falling for years, the bishops of the United States, in accordance with canon law, petitioned the Vatican to allow the celebration to be transferred to the following Sunday. The Vatican agreed. Today, only the ecclesiastical provinces of Boston, Hartford, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, and Omaha (the state of Nebraska) continue to celebrate the Ascension of Our Lord on Thursday. The faithful in those provinces (an ecclesiastical province is basically one large archdiocese and the dioceses that are historically associated with it) are required, under the Precepts of the Church, to attend Mass on Ascension Thursday.”
