SYNOD, HOMOSEXUALITY, AND LGBT IDEOLOGY. A CRITICAL VOICE FROM AUSTRALIA
SYNOD FATHER: TEACH LIFE ISSUES WITH GREATER CLARITY THAN EVER, OK?
While i think that some criticism towards some people in the hierarchy is well deserved, could you maybe ponder upon the issue of benefit of doubt and the idea that if there are explanations pointing towards good intentions, that then one should not exclusively presume evil intentions?
Take for example your negative characterization of Bishop Tencer:
“Faithless Iceland FrancisBishop Tencer at FreakSynod: The secular world is more conservative, OK? But the Church isn’t like that. The Church is very positive,” see?”
According to the linked report:
“Tencer also said that when he kept trying to get young people to read a hardcopy version of the Bible, “very, very few” actually would.
But when he told them they had to download the Bible on their devices, “now everyone works with the Bible and they read it.””
he is trying to get young people reading the bible.
Whatever other flaws he might have, getting young people to read the bible – hard-copy or digital – is a behavior perfectly in line with the duties of a bishop and hence even if he is doing a hundred things wrong, he seems at lest to do one thing right and deserves credit for this.
Please think about being less negative towards people who at least do some good things.
Maybe I could change it to: “Iceland Bishop Tencer Does Have Some Nice Things About Him” The road to ruin is paved with good intentions, and in order to give the benefit of the doubt, you have to have doubt. Thanks, Carn.
