Your explanation as to why nothing can be done about Pope Francis just because it has never been done before is a very weak excuse.
To grin and bear it and carry on as though nothing is happening is the path you have chosen. How can the hierarchy just stand and watch Pope Francis tear the Church to shreds?
I am just a lay person with no authority, but if I was a Cardinal, I would smack Pope Francis in the face in front of everyone.
Just as Archbishop Fulton Sheen said, “The laity will save the Church”.

Seems Steve most chew on the jesuitical pronouncement of Ignatius in his rule 13 for following the church “the white I see is black if the hierarchical church says it is black”. Now that was an innovation that needs to be seriously looked at after 500 years. This jesuitical constructed papacy that we have been living with for a long time (remember jesuits were forbidden to arise above the simple priesthood) has people tied into knots. I don’t believe the true tradition supports it. A truly catholic and freeman like Dante would certainly heap the utmost scorn upon it. Become a slave in order to be saved? Christ and the Holy Trinity save us not the hierarchy. This is putting a human operation which should serve God above God.

These all go together. One need only read the Epistles of St. Paul and the Apocalypse of St. John to make this connection. And you are right, one can’t help but notice in Dante his insistence that a Title did not prevent anyone from heretical departure from Truth. He served Truth with the full application of his spiritual and intellectual freedom. Suffered exile for it.
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach a Gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse.” (Gal 1:8). There is no living man or angel from heaven that can change a word, letter, punctuation mark of Sacred Tradition handed down from Christ through the Apostles.
Sacred Tradition and Holy Scripture is the Word Of God – perfect; of heaven. Any change to it makes it something else, less, lower than the heavens. If an angel from heaven cannot change the Gospel, then neither can a Pope or Cardinal(s). Luther became a heretic not for opposing the Pope but for departing from Dogmatic Tradition. That error, (as Dante proves), is open not just to deviant Priests (like Luther), but to all Catholics from Layman to Pope. It is a human condition.
True freedom (as a true, “Catholic freeman”) is to remain within the walls of Dogmatic Sacred Tradition which points the way to its fulfillment in God in Paradise.
