Frank, I loved your commentary on the Bannon-Arroyo interview. I am hoping to comment on the papacy on my own blog tonight. diestra.home.blog. Today at mass we had a Dominican priest, who comes to a local church in Delaware every Friday. It is the feast of St. Vincent Ferrer. I do wish you would have mentioned him. He lived during the Great Schism. He was ordained by an Anti-pope but achieved many conversions of Moslems and Jews and was practically a miracle factory. He was wrong about the identity of the true pope was, but once he understood the situation, he immediately requested Benedict XIII abdicate for the sake of the unity of the Church. Benedict XIII refused, died and a new pope elected in his place. St. Vincent placed his loyalty in Martin V, elected at the Council of Constance. There are lots of lessons here for us with eyes to see, ears to hear, and a willingness to understand.
Each man and woman must decide in his own heart, in council with the Holy Spirit given to one at Baptism,and the Holy Tradition, as to Vatican ll, so radical was it’s departure from the previous faith. What penetrates me….why I reject it and the rulers that implemented it and uphold it, is it’s sin against charity. Charity is the supreme Christian virtue, “without charity all faith is nothing, a noisy cymbal”. That millions upon millions were heartbroken and left the Church of Rome and that the implementers watched their brothers and sisters flounder in despair and were not pierced in their hearts and did not come to their aid, is the tell tale sign for me. It has taken me years to come to fully believe that the council was a sin against the Holy Spirit…..and now I believe I understand why the season of Pentecost and the Octave of the Holy Spirit were removed by the council.
