REMNANT’S MATT FROM THE EVIL SYNOD: THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS THING GOING ON RIGHT NOW IN ROME IS HOW THEY DON’T REALIZE THAT THE MODERNIST POLICIES OF VATICAN II ARE WHAT’S REALLY RESPONSIBLE, OK!?
A game of “controlled resistence” is exactly right, and it’s a terrible evil to inflict on faithful Catholics.
Beg to differ with you on the cause of “Pope” Francis. There is no question in my mind that Francis is a product of Vatican II. He is what Vatican II is all about, the demise, neutering and eventual elimination. To me this is beyond doubt.
What makes Francis so acceptable to most Catholics is the de-programming of Catholicism that has taken place since that catastrophic council. When Francis goes another will take his place.
Until Vatican II is abrogated in its entirety the Church will continue its downhill path. The sedevacantist are right in their analysis. But they should have stayed in the Church and fought Vatican II and all its evil children.
Soon orthodox Catholics will need to form their own underground Church.
God Bless you Frank and all the good you do for the Church.
Perhaps there are many causes to ‘Pope’ Francis (VII being just one)?
About having to go underground soon, I have the same sense, Mr. Dowd. I imagine we’ll be left having to receive the sacraments wherever we can, whether the local Francis Ordinary thinks we’re Catholic or not. We’ll know soon enough. These are no ordinary times.
I agree with you Michael. My younger siblings who came of age in the late 70s and early 80s have no conception of a Catholic world view. Contraception—“meh”. Fast and abstinence—what’s that? Sanctuary lamp—never saw one. Marriage didn’t work out?—it’s easy to get an annulment. Gay marriage—sure, but maybe not in a Catholic Church for now. So much has been lost.
Agree completely with you. Vatican II created a charter to change the Church. It was a silence schism from within. The outcome is our Protestant/Catholic Church which is now a wraith of itself former self as elements of Catholic culture, e.g., fish on Friday, etc, have be stripped away, Confession is a mere remnant, contraception is the norm, etc. And traditional Catholicism is an embarrassment to “Pope” Francis.
‘Controlled resistance’ — that’s a gem. Why else would Bergoglio be so interested in the SSPX?
Skojec’s recent piece seems logically fallacious in some areas.
Skojec says,
“As the Catholic encyclopedia says, ‘it is a dogma of faith that every pontiff duly elected and recognized by the universal Church is a successor of Peter.’ As an infallible act logically implies, universal acceptance would preclude a false conclave.”
Now Skojec’s quote from the CE translates logically as saying (at most):
1. If X is (A) duly elected and (B) universally accepted, then X is a valid successor.
But Skojec’s subsequent remark (“universal acceptance would preclude a false conclave”), which he appears to base on the CE quote, translates logically only as saying:
2. If X is (B) universally accepted, then X’s conclave was valid, i.e., X is a valid successor.
So, logically, Skojec’s reasoning seems to be in trouble: Conditional 1 does not entail Conditional 2.
If two things are jointly sufficient for another thing (as we see stated in Conditional 1), it doesn’t follow that, therefore, only one of those things is sufficient (as we see in Conditional 2). It is right to call something a dog, for example, if it has four legs and barks, but that doesn’t mean we should be calling everything a dog just because it has four legs.
Skojec’s reasoning, simply put, seems to commit a non sequitur (which explains why my first go at this comment was flagged as spam on his site?).
Cam: Well explicated. Thank you.
‘Never alone.’ I write to compliment Frank on that link’s name – the part of it that says Francis is in favor of ‘never alone’ as the worst possible place to be. The link was in place when I checked the site on 13 October. Perhaps this fits in to the above discussion somehow. Alone is precisely where, on a certain level, I find I must be – I cannot speak for others but I do sense, from Our Lady’s instructions after each chapter in Mystical City of God, that being alone, and discoursing only with God, is the only way to go. Other people cannot help or rather there are huge limitations which prevent connection beyond the most superficial… and watch how those very connections tend to change and mutate from day to day. I have to keep identifying as a born protestant to place this in context, in commenting. In accord with the commenter above who come down on VII as the cause of what we are seeing. I guess, it comes down to sedevacantism. IN my cae, I sped to the bottom line quite soon, actually. Confronting the church more protestant than my upbringing did have its effect. So: being alone is the reality, painful as it seems to be to contemplate for so many people, who become involved with arguments on line – or are simply distracted worrying about what others think and trying to process their mutations. Others are flawed; we are flawed; it is our responsibility to focus on our own willingness to trust Divine Providence, God, in each and every circumstance, to curtail speech or eliminate it, and at least to fine tune it, whether written or spoken. It is all about fidelity to the hardest bottom line of which one can conceive. I guess, not everybody is interested or up to this kind of approach but certain people have no alternatives, and I am one. There is no middle ground whatsoever for me… it took me quite a long time to learn that! 😀
n–What you describe may be what Mark Docherty and NonVeniPacem calls “Frosty”. Make your yes be yes and your no be no–doesn’t sound like room for any middle ground there. Alone with God sounds like the Beatific Vision.
Frank, would you link to Br. Bugnolo’s latest call to action at From Rome? Thank you!
