I AM AN AMERICAN CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYER – AND I SEE OUR GOVERNMENT USING COVID-19 TO TAKE AWAY OUR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS
That video of Archbishop Lenga was amazing. I’ve watched it multiple times and it never gets old. Like rainfall on a parched land……..it felt so right!
Happy to hear of your SSPX visit.
I was shocked, after mine, to realize how deceived I’d been. I was told these were schismatics, not even Catholic. Wrong.
The Faith lives strong in their missionary Parishes, Priests, Parishioners and in their Liturgy. God is there.
Went to my first SSPX mass this weekend too. Priest had a broken foot, sat on a chair giving confessions outside in the sun and wind for an hour, he then rolls himself into the Chapel where they had a chair set up for him on the altar, after mass he’s outside for another hour of confessions, unbelievable. They can reopen my local tlm tomorrow, wouldn’t care, SSPX was there for me, going back at least though Easter even though it’s 2 hours away.
Fr. Cipolla, Rorate Caeli, draws a false dichotomy. He asserts that “Trads” … (I will always hate that word, as it indicates the unnatural division within the Catholic Faith – we are *all* called to be Trads …. Catholics should stop using that word) … “Trads” who assert the urgency to attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in these false crisis times and who urgently wish to receive Jesus, thereby, *do not at the same time* see Mass as the “worship of God; giving oneself to God”.
Catholics do not (should not) make dichotomies such as this. It is not either-or, but *both*. Each supports one another. Grace inspires us to go to Jesus in the Sacrament of Penance, confess, perform penance, receive His Grace; we go to Jesus in the Eucharist and become one with Him – Body, Blood, Soul, Divinity. In between, we kneel down and adore Him in His Holy presence in the Tabernacle among fellow Catholics.
We do all those things. We demand all those things – out of obedience to our God.
But Mass is taken away from us in this false crisis, in obedience to secular leaders most of whom hate God. So then, we are forced to remain isolated and alone, cut off from real Communion; forced in isolation into all that’s left – spiritual communion.
And Priests such as Fr. Cipolla say it’s not that big of a deal. The Priests don’t need us at Mass. We are superfluous to the Holy Sacrifice. Stop making it into such a big deal, this “time in the desert” and worship Jesus at home or wherever … *as if we don’t already do that*.
“But some man will say: Thou has faith and I have works: show me thy faith without works; and I will show thee, by works, my faith” (James 2:18).
No dichotomy, Fr. Cipolla. Faith and works, hand in hand, drive us even at the cost of death to attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. And “to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, body, mind and strength” during these holy Mass times *and* every moment in between. Not either – or.
Bless you, Aqua. My mother is feeling more frustrated and depressed as her time away from the reception of Our Lord lengthens. Yes! she makes Spiritual Communions and prays the Rosary and Chaplets and Novenas along with the radio personalities, BUT it is not the same and her soul aches for Whom she has grown fond and fonder of over the years. This is so very, very wrong.
And she tells me that Patrick Madrid questioned a caller saying, “Wouldn’t you feel awful if just because you wanted to go to Mass so badly you unintentionally and unknowingly infected someone else and they DIED?” I told my mom that Mr. Madrid had better not EVER drive again because he might unintentionally cause an accident and KILL someone. She paused and then laughed.
She is an octogenarian and so it is reasonable for her to “shelter at home” until the ‘all clear’ sounds. To quarantine the healthy population and mandate the closure of uninfected businesses is lunacy. To suppress public Mass is diabolical.
Concerned Commenter – I am so sorry about your mother. My God sustain her and give her peace. And yes, suppression is diabolical. That is not of God. God would never advocate locking Himself up because of an “all-powerful” Corona god.
My response to Patrick Madrid is:
“wouldn’t you feel awful if you helped separate faithful Catholics from God and His Grace and thereby helped doom their soul to eternal hell – and they died the living death in everlasting fire, because of you”?
Never in history has the Church shuttered and locked away Jesus and the Sacraments throughout the world. Patrick Madrid should think his position through carefully as if his soul depended on it.
No Catholic would ever submit willingly to separation from our Lord for any reason or advocate that for others – some of whom are at the edge of eternity. We do not fear death. We fear hell. We fear loss of Jesus and His Mother. We fear loss of communion with God and fellowship with the Saints.
The Eucharist *is* Jesus. It is the miracle of the Universe that he is given to us in this gentle way. It is not possible that he can be controlled by and this the cause of viral death.
How can any Catholic be so casual about locking up and locking out this miracle in which God comes to us on the Cross (!) and into us in a most intimate way. They have no right, unless they do not truly believe.
