I was aware of Peter Singer 20 years ago. He was the first to make the honest, albeit evil, argument that the value of life was determined by utility to the collective and not by its position in a divinely inspired hierarchy in relation to God, source of life, who created all things.
His was an honest argument because, of course, if there is no God, then utility and power is the only measure of whether and who should live and die and advance in the world.
His was an evil argument because he rendered thereby all life as worthless and hopeless and utterly disposable to be taken by those higher up the evolutionary chain of power and “usefulness”. There is no love in this man’s system. None. He would sacrifice a baby with a disability for the sake of a healthy dog if a choice needed to be made. He says precisely that.
And so, I see Peter Singer, Princeton “Ethicist”, as the foremost prophet of secular barbarian doom for our civilization. I knew if his argument could not be answered, then it would prevail. And the Church in response destroyed the JP II Institute of Life and populated it with Peter Singer acolytes.
Our Church and the society it spawned almost two millenia ago will pay a heavy, heavy price for not only accepting but advancing the views of this man. Peter Singer.
