It is interesting that her core description of the crisis and its solution contains within it the cause, but not as she expects. Her solution to the crisis in vocations is precisely why we have a crisis in vocations. Contained in this extract:
“The irony is that self-fulfillment will be elusive unless and until we fully embrace the logic of self-sacrifice and self-gift. Sadly, few know how to give themselves or receive the gift of another person.”
The error in this sentence is carried throughout the essay. God is absent from consideration, throughout. But God is first, second and third in the Commandments – summarized in Jesus’ Gospel command to Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, body and strength …. *and only then, within that context*, to love your neighbor as yourself.
That is not the approach here. Humanity, even within the context of charity and giving, humanity, first, middle and last.
God, as is almost always the case in Vatican II Nu Church is absent from consideration, except at the periphery, and then usually only as an appeal to authority for core humanitarian purposes.
Vatican II Nu Church is a Humanist religion, which is the real reason why it has no Vocations. God is not in it. Humanism is inherently self-centered, as is the author of that religion – the fallen Angel Lucifer, and will never willingly give of itself for reasons of charity and sacrifice to another for simply their own sake, without thought of return and advantage.
Humanism is the religion. Darwin’s Natural Selection is the metaphysical worldview that explains why we do what we do. It is as far from Christianity as you can possibly get: survival of the fittest in the only world we will ever know …. vs ….. charity, self-giving and sacrifice through personal death to the physical world; eternal life in shared communion in the next.
We must name the name of Jesus Christ and carry His Holy Name boldly into the Church which has forgotten our Lord, and then from within Her out into the world that is lost until it knows our Lord who is the *only way* (the small gate) to salvation, and ultimate happiness.
