Phil Lawler wrote an interesting article titled , The Backward Logic of Custodis Traditionis (Guardians Against Tradition), in which he explains the counterintuitive current movement toward Tradition when Vatican II Clerics are committed to movement away from Tradition. The Pope is attempting to destroy orthodox traditional Catholicism, how is it we are seeing movement opposite to that intent?

And he kind of nails it. He asks: “Was there really a radical discontinuity between pre-conciliar and post-conciliar Catholicism? Because if there was, then we would be forced to ask a second serious question: Had the Church veered off the authentic Catholic tradition? Or to put it differently, were there some aspects of the Council’s teachings that required at least clarification, if not outright correction”?
It reminds me of the story of Tootle the tank engine:

These tracks of Tradition connect us every turn of the wheel to our Lord who gave us life at the beginning and waits for us in eternal life at the end. Only the TRACKS keep us there, take us there. The guardians of Tradition, a small band of Priests, primarily (not exclusively) SSPX are the flag men in the fields laboring to get the train back where it belongs.
Traditionis Custodes blatantly took the scales off our collective eyes so we can see the beast that has tried to take us off the tracks of our Catholic Faith – Vatican II and especially the “spirit” that persists in its aftermath and this strange man Bergoglio who best represents this failed Council.
We will know we are fully and finally healed of our spiritual disease when we no longer use terms like “Trad”, conservative Catholic, liberal Catholic, Latin Mass Catholic, Novus Ordo Catholic. There will just be Catholics and everyone else. And the SSPX will have finished its missionary work of bringing orthodox Catholic Faith to fallen away Catholics and moved on to its pride of place of ensuring the Faith is passed on intact and whole to the living Faithful and future generations.
