I stand with Arbp Viganó. Almost alone among the Heirarchy he is right on everything, which to me indicates Divine grace.
In the apocalyptic novel, The Lord Of The World, the false church is the only visible church; the antipope is the only visible pope. The real Church exists, but it is so small, so persecuted, so hunted for extinction that it cannot be seen by almost anyone living. Christians know it exists, but they don’t know where and who and how. It is led by the Pope, and … oh, but he is a holy, holy man with direct spiritual connection to Almighty God. The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass endures through him and a small remnant, and with him – the world until the end of time … when Mass – the true Mass of Ages, ends.
Arbp Viganó is firmly within the bounds of Sacred Tradition and is recognizeable to any and all Catholics from any previous age. He has taken a lonely public stand for Sacred Tradition against all the innovations and departures that make the modernist Catholic Faith unrecognizable to the Communion of Saints. He carefully grounds all,of his points in the Sacred Magisterium and uses copious footnotes so anyone can check his work. What he says is in accord with everything that came before – leading directly to Christ.
This George Weigel fellow – who is he? Well … I need know nothing more than that he just accused Archbishop Viganó in his opening paragraph broadside salvo against the brave Viganó of being a “conspiracy theorist constantly connecting dots that no rational person would imagine connecting or even think connectable”. Of all the things he is not – conspiracy theorist ranks at the top. For some reason, George supports the corrupt, evil, violent and illegitimate Ukraine regime against Russia, which is quantifiably experiencing Orthodox Christian revival – and he doesn’t like common sense dissent from his view that we need to go to battle stations and WW III against our strategic nuclear foe. Swing and a miss, George – who is obviously a pedantic fop whose talent lies with floating in whichever direction the modern religious current takes him – simple gig and it pays quite well, I am sure.
The times require heroes. Heroes require villains. Who is who is who is a matter of conscience and discernment. All I will say for myself … Archbishop Viganó is a hero for our times – just based on his stated goals of unification in Christ through Sacred Tradition and his willingness to risk all for Christ seemingly alone among the world. But let history sort out and identify the true villains and heroes. It is our personal duty to avoid the one; emulate and support the latter.
