The deeper matter is the exaggerated and false claims of authority the popes all make. They obviously do not have the authority to crush what God has seen fit to give as an independent gift with ontological status – here the popes only have authority to support and transmit it – but never to crush it.
The solution is autocephaly where bishops and other religious communities can disobey and limit the pope to a role of supporting and transmitting but not crushing.
