I think you should pin this article about the “Great Discessio” somewhere on your homepage so folks can see it and get to it. It’s a keeper. It paints the big picture perfectly and tells us everything we need to know about Bergoglio and his fake Church.
Agree, this is a very timely and important article, and helps to explain Benedict’s mystifying actions (I was leaning toward sedevacatism). It just makes sense. I hope it was widely read.
It’s interesting that Tyconius, Bishop of Carthage (Tunisia), St. Augustine, Bishop of Hippo (Algeria), can be linked in terms of time, place, and metaphysics. The former lived the 4th Century, the latter in the 5th, both witnesses to a prototype of the “End Times,” i.e. the death throes of the Western Roman Empire. As if Goths, Huns, and Vandals sacking cities around Europe and North Africa weren’t enough, bloody Imperial persecutions annihilated those who refused to worship Roman idols. Churches were razed; relics, sacred vessels, any copies of Scripture were seized, burned or sold. Worse than the priests, bishops, and their “flock” who renounced Christ and surrendered sacred artifacts to pagan authorities and barbarians, were the clergy “traditores” who afterwards blithely reconciled and resumed ministry. Tyconius duly included them in “Expositio Apocalypseos,” his dire epic analysis of eschatological conflict between the Children of the Devil and the Holy Ones.
Decades later, St. Augustine was inspired by Tyconius when superseding his own theology of history, namely the “Earthly City” (doomed societies and ideologies aligned with the world, the flesh, and the Devil) at war with the “City of God” (heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven, who dedicate their lives and deaths to the eternal truths revealed by Christ).
But Pope Benedict XVI wisely intimated that ours might be a good time to revisit “Expositio Apocalypseos,” however shelved since Renaissance times. Tyconius prophesied, for example, that “the throne of the beast will be in his church” on account of the duplicitous bishops under his sway. “Those treacherous bishops will give shape and form to the devil’s body – the false church – even after the true Church has detached herself from it.” He uses the Latin “Discessio” to mean the departure, the detachment of “the true Church” going its separate way, much as did Lot fleeing Sodom, or the Hebrews leaving behind the fleshpots of Egypt.
The ‘falling away’ will precede “the Passion of the Church.” “The people of God, the saints, will endure and faithfully preach God’s Word, and the False Brothers [those in league with the devil but saying that they are Christians] will be unmasked when they turn and persecute the Church.” How will the False Brethren deceive people into trusting their guidance? Tyconius is unequivocally emphatic that they are often found among the Church leaders, the bishops. Our Lady of Fatima said as much, according to Alberto Amaral, Bishop of Fatima (1972-93): “In the Third Secret it is foretold, among other things, that the great apostasy in the Church will begin at the top.” Padre Pio also warned that “It is Satan who has been introduced into the bosom of the Church and within a very short time will come to rule a false Church.”
Tyconius: “Once apostasy has been enacted, the Bride of Christ will be battling not only the False Brothers but the heathen world as well, which will have joined forces with the False Brothers in an openly united demonic front:” “The last persecution will purify her up to the seventh trumpet,” which will mark “the coming of the Lord.” “Although she will be persecuted, like her Bridegroom, and even appear defeated, the Church of the Last Times shares in the Bridegroom’s divine life. She will prevail over the Antichrist and ultimately rout the false church.” Yet, Tyconius had no illusions about the severity of that ultimate conflict. “That which Christ suffered once, now He suffers through the members of His Mystical Body… No one should think that the Apostles alone had died for Christ and that now martyrdom has ceased and that the persecutors are not in the Church. For it is necessary that the Son of Man always goes ‘to Jerusalem…to suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to rise again after three days.’ ”
Yes, SJH, turns out that, referencing the “False Brethren,” Tyconius writes of wolves in sheep’s clothing, or of serpents speaking out of the mouths of poisoned, counterfeit lambs. Early on, Benedict XVI, we recall, asked for prayers lest he have to depart (i.e. the “discessio” of which Tyconius wrote), “to flee from the wolves.” God would then be departing with him, as when Abraham left Ur or Lot fled Sodom.
St.Hildegard of Bingen,12th century abbess and Doctor of the Church, also had prophetic visions of the future. Part III of her book “Scito vias Domini” describes a vision of five animals representing a succession of latter day historical eras, each containing specific evils meant to damage the Roman Catholic Church until the world approaches its end… which she saw as the rapine age of wolves, a neo-pagan Lupercalia:
The first, the “Cane Igneo” (fiery dog): An era of people “with a biting temperament, who seem fiery in their own estimation, and do not burn with the justice of God.”
The second, Leo Fulvone” (the golden lion): An era of “martial people who instigate many wars but do not think of the righteousness of God in them…”
The third, “Equis Pallido” (the pale horse): “people who drown themselves in sin, and in their licentious and swift moving pleasures neglect all virtuous activities. These kingdoms will lose their strength and grow pale with the fear of ruin and their hearts will be broken.”
The fourth, “Porco Negro” (the black pig): “,,,unholy leaders who wallow in the mud of impurity [something resembling Sodom and Gemorrah] and infringe upon the Divine Law by fornication and other like evils…”
The fifth, “Lupus Griseus” (the grey wolf): “And the last is like a grey wolf; … people who with unjust thievery and greed plunder each other and rob the powerful and the fortunate; and in these conflicts they will be neither black nor white but grey in their cunning. They will divide and conquer the rulers. The time will come when many will be ensnared, and the error of errors [Antichrist] will rise from Hell to Heaven.”
