How interesting, two publicity stunt “best sellers” coming out in the same week: Ganswein’s “Life with Benedict,” and Harry’s “Spare.” In a way, both books are similar, ‘splaining’ rivalry between the heir and the spare, one papal and the other monarchical. Both pose as fact, but much of what the authors “reveal” fits their personal agenda, i.e. secrets and private conversations are unprovable. Both will make hundreds of millions for publishers and authors and ghost writers.
The irony is that few care about the abdications of Harry and Benedict. As for truth, it’s whatever one can get away with these days. Sensationalized psychoanalyses of the pair may sell books or even get movie rights, but it’s just latter day “entertainment” in an increasingly bored and jaded world of Bread and Circuses.
