Ann Barnhardt has an interesting article on a legal concept known as “consilience”. In short, consilience demands a law be clear, understandable, understood, before it can be considered just and binding on citizens.

A statute is void for vagueness if it does not clearly communicate its purpose to a person of average intelligence. In other words, a criminal statute must be intelligible to the workaday layman before it can impose criminal liability.”

And that all sounds good, in a legitimate government sourced in Constitutional powers, inhabited by men of good will, directed by conscience, case law, and the Stare Decisis principle of precedent. A healthy and just society is governed in this way. A healthy society is happy and prosperous and predictable.
But … that doesn’t really apply to our society any more, does it; doesn’t even apply (tragically, painfully) to the visible Holy Mother visible NuChurch Militant of the Vatican II. All that Barnhardt’s article presupposes is rendered null by the tyranny of men who our stole patrimony in the dark of night while we are left wandering around trying to make sense of the new empty reality of our home without our treasures. Violence has been committed. The response is not yet, because we still don’t fully comprehend how much we’ve lost.
But, there is no “consilience” currently operable in our political or Catholic societies. Tyranny has other ideas. Tyranny is pure power. Tyranny thrives in confusion. Consilience is the enemy of tyrants. That doesn’t render Truth any less knowable … just that to arrive at Truth now comes at a great personal cost, opposed and oppressed by the law, rather than supported.
Tyranny def: “cruel, unreasonable, or arbitrary use of power or control.”
So how does tyranny prevail over consilience in the current Catholic condition – as it is, and not how we would wish it to be?
All confusions, illegalities, disconnects from Sacred Tradition – all are *declared*, (rather than proved), *declared* null and hereby imposed by pure tyrannical power. It just is. Boil down the logic of those who accept Benedict resigning his Ministry while remaining in Office in every way that matters, those who thus accept Bergoglio as true and legitimate Pope … boil it down to its essence and the argument is pure tyranny: “it just is what it is”.
Well, I can accept the rule of my rulers, but that doesn’t ever mean that I am compelled in conscience and in Faith to accept that rule as legitimate. *That*, also, “is what it is”.
You can only have “A Great Apostasy”, “A Great Falling Away”, from The True Church, Christ’s One, Holy, Catholic, And Apostolic Church, existing Through, With, And In Christ, In The Unity Of The Holy Ghost (Filioque), outside of which there is no Salvation, due to The Unity Of The Holy Ghost (Filioque).
