Many Catholics have taken pre-judgement positions on this grave sin and crime, before Fr Jackson ever had a chance to defend himself and answer the charges. I found the pre-judgements repulsive – whether in his favor or for his guilt.
There is a process for deciding legal judgements of crimes. There is a different process for determining Canonical violations of vows. Almost everyone who expressed an opinion was utterly ignorant of any facts, completely unqualified to render judgement of any kind.
Now we know. It is far worse than the imagination can even comprehend – oh, the depths of evil! I hope no one takes even a grain of satisfaction in the outcome this calamity.

Father Jackson is likely innocent. Anyone facing the juggernaut of the federal persecutors knows they face certain prosecution regardless of guilt and so plead guilty to get a reduced sentence — ask the Jan 6 political prisoners how their trials turned out when they pled innocent. If Fr. Jackson were harming children victims would be coming forth. How easy is it for computer experts to download porn onto an innocent person’s computer via backdoor channels that exist on every wifi enabled device?

He pled guilty. The evidence was all there and he admitted the crime. He did it.
If (however) he pled guilty, when he was not actually guilty, just to receive a lighter sentence … that would be scandalous in and of itself.
What he did is now between him and God. It would be negligent, bordering on participatory negligence, to not acknowledge this truth and the gravity of his crimes. We are in a spiritual war and the first step to winning is acknowledging the scope of it – it engulfs even our Priests.
It doesn’t shake my faith at all to acknowledge the present personal reality of sin. In fact, it makes me even firmer in my convictions because – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Eph 6:12).
Our Catholic Faith is not esoteric knowledge and theory. It is, instead, a drama that involves body and soul and the devil is at war with our King for possession of our souls. High drama indeed.
