The case of the warmonger has never changed, so I couldn’t read any of it. I skipped to the final sentences for the Cliffnotes summary:
“If conservatives oppose a liberal cause that is actually just, as in the case of Ukraine, they are giving a huge gift to their opponents. If they support such a just cause, the foundations of liberal propaganda against them are undermined.”
The key fallacy is in the first sentence of his concluding paragraph: “… a liberal cause that is just …”
I reject the premise.
Russia gave us fair warning – do not move NATO into Ukraine, which movement is an existential threat to Russian sovereignty.
And so – of course we move NATO into Ukraine and invite them under our security umbrella. And we blame them for reacting as any sane self-respecting nation SHOULD act.
Think about it … are we ok with Communist China moving army and navy into Cuba, with the assurance of nuclear protection 90 miles south of our border?
“Just cause for war”. I reject that label. Anyone who says it – go fight on the front lines yourself. Americans are comfortable with never-ending war because their skin is never at risk. Put it at risk, join Azov Nazi fighters if you believe in their cause so much. I’ll think you a fool, but at least grant you small respect for backing words with action … send yourself or your own kids this time, not someone else’s.
