One Thought on “ClownStunt?: Walking into a First Communion with a rifle? That DOES look suspicious. Good thing the ‘parishioners’ escorted him out for the police?”
My observation is that the word “Church laity” is more and more coming to mean “Church ladies.” I mean they are everywhere around the sanctuary during N.O.Mass, some in white altar boy or deacon attire, some in beach or golf outfits. These ladies serve as greeters, usually do the Scripture readings, say the pre-Credo petitions aloud, lead the processions before and after Mass, play the piano or violin, sing the neverending N.O. songs, and aggressively run around the Church with Communion hosts in hand, searching out everyone and anyone. I think it’s just a matter of time before they become full-fledged FrancisDeacons. Additionally, Church Ladies Guilds are typically in charge of raising money for parish scholarships, baby showers, food pantries, retreats, repair of outdoor statues and Stations, you name it.
