Does Leo, “Vicar of Christ,” not understand that finding new paths and preaching new approaches are the stuff of heresy? Thanks to the new paths and approaches of Luther, Calvin ,and Henry VIII, there are some 35,000 Protestant churches today. But, on this feast of Peter and Paul, patron saints of Rome, we recall Matthew 16:18 and the words of Jesus: “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.” Our Lord did not say “Churches.”
