The recent attempt to disfigure the Cathedral hardly seems accidental. The holy site was dedicated eight centuries ago to Our Lady of the Assumption. In her honor, Cordoba would have been joyfully celebrating her feast on August 15th with a great Mass, traditional procession, and city-wide fiesta. But now, not Mary but a municipal mare’s nest has taken center stage. Expectations of a courtesy call from Laurent Ulrich are slim to none.
