Why have PewSitter’s daily reads jumped all of a sudden?  They were hovering around 14,000 mid week, but they’ve practically tripled since September 20th:

Daily reads up over 40,000?

PewSitter’s monthly reads were about 420,000.  Annual reads were around 6.2 million, yet they’ve increased 200k in one week.  At this rate they’ll have over 15 million annual reads this year.   They are really, really getting popular!

It’s even more implausible when you consider the sloping trend in their other reports:

pewsitter-stats-sep-2016

In fact, Quantcast statistics show no upward change at all.

True, Quantcast doesn’t measure the auto-refresh function, which is still every ten minutes, but 9,700 is much less than 41,000.  So what’s up with their apparently inflated front page reads?

Is it that manufactured Francis Effect?

8 Thoughts on “Francis Effect: PewSitter Daily Reads Skyrocket?

I think it’s more of a TrumpEffect rather than FrancisEffect. Catholics are so divided between Trump and Hillary and they wanted to know how other Catholics were doing.

    • More of the Pewsitter readers are considering Trump now though. It’s almost impossible to have an overnight tripling of readership, especially after ten years and months of decline. It’s possible to inflate the reported numbers.

I don’t have a problem with PewSitter and never did. I don’t get what some of you are complaining about. I still visit it nearly every day. First I go to SpiritDaily.com, then PS. Then perhaps CNS news (Bozell) and then Drudge. Since Canon 212 came on I often will go there too. although I have seen it billed as the alternative to PS. Guess it’s supposed to be even more Latin Mass-centric and conservative than PS, whatever that means outside of being Lefebvrist. Frankly, PS is often way more informative than Drudge, and has more news than Canon 212. It also covers much of the same material as 212. To each their own. I’m not a Latin Mass goer but I don’t have anything against it either. I’m looking for good news sources…period.

    • More Latin Mass-centric, ‘Lefebrvrist’ and accurate, honest about readership.

Bingo. I’ve switched over completely to Canon 212 and don’t visit PS at all anymore. They’re doing a great job.

God save your soul from rampant Novus Ordo heresy. You probably love your sins far more than the tradition of the Church. No, I’m not sorry for hurting your feelings with the truth. Heresy is rampant at the kind of Masses you attend.

You didn’t hurt my feelings. I think you’re comment was helpful. I agree about the rampant heresy at most Masses. We had a great morning Mass today with our old Vicar from Malta. He taught us the prayer to the Archangels that he said as a child in Maltese! It’s nothing like a European language. No heresy today for a change. 🙂
