Is There Something Wrong With Francis’s Hand?

A Canon212 reader noticed a ‘severe disfigurement’ on Francis’s right hand in a picture of Francis and his joyous assembled propaganda youth.  If you click the photo it expands and you can see his hand is sort of covered in lumps:

Here is a closer look:

It resembles a pox or a plague.  This picture is some months old.  Francis’s right hand looks normal in the hand-snatching, ring-kissing video, but perhaps this has something to do with it.

    One possibility is Dupuytrens Contracture, a condition in which the
    tendons of the hand shorten, to that the fingers curl towards the palm.
    This causes “bumps” along the side of the hand.
