“April is the cruellest month, breeding

Dull roots with spring rain.”
And so begins, “The Waste Land”, an epic poem in five parts, composed by T.S. Eliot, post World War I, with a publication date of 1922.
i’m writing a research paper on the first part of this long poem, given the theme that World War I and it’s orgins played an essential role in the development of this poem. There were many events over the last two hundred years that qualify April for the dishonor of being the cruellest month, among them, the sinking of the Titanic, the death of Abraham Lincoln, the Bataclan massacre and just yesterday, the burning of Notre Dame.

M may think he’s got Benedict all figured out, therefore feels justified in his derision and constant criticisms of him; but one day he may weep bitter tears for all the words he has written against him, knowing that they helped to pile on the hatred for Pope Benedict, who most certainly should never be dishonored in such a way.

Eliot worked at Lloyd’s of London in 1917. I hold the view that the poem is a veiled refernce to the banking money from the City of London used in bankrolling both sides in the war and the support by the Rothschilds for a zionist homeland. Eliot needed to be able to make a living. Being too frank under his circumstances could have cut off his career before it could begin. In April of 1920 the British fulfilled their promise to Rothschild with Palestine being made a British mandate.
Eiot has tons of allusions in this poem. Ezra Pound, later a Fascist sympathizer, was the primary editor. Cathedral references are only one among many. The traditional view of the poem, attributes its meaning to his state of mind and his horrible marriage. I don’t think so.

Eliot and Pound were both quite sure, and rightly so, that Rothschild banking ruled the western world and was the cause of the Great War that depopulated western christendom and manhood. Usura as Pound refers to it again and again, or the love of illicitly begotten gain, at one time completely condemned by Christian morals and ethics, had gained total control. The Catholic Church, or the Vatican, had for some time been playing both sides of the streets, preaching orthodoxy to the masses but privately consorting with the bankers, this had been the case since the powerful banking and nobility families had gotten hold of the reigns of power in the Renaissance….for real insider information on this get hold of Michael Hoffman’s The Occult Renaissance Church of Rome. In 1834 the Vatican took out a 34 million dollar loan from Lord Rothschild at 5% interest. An outrage that would never have passed the test of Francis of Assisi or Thomas Aquinas. I am aware of Hoffman and his research on the theology surrounding usury. It’s more relevant today than it was 200 years ago. Fr. Schall just died. He was a good friend of Russell Kirk, who was the primary analyst, critic and friend of T. S. Eliot. I was given an extension on my paper. I’m going to use the time to read Kirk’s, Eliot and His Age.
