I can’t take Mundabor seriously.
1. He says, “it is not for me to say who is the Pope,” but then says just a few words later, “Francis is Pope.” Really, his incoherence here is quite breathtaking. Besides, canon 748 binds “all persons” to “seek the truth in those things which regard God and his Church.” How, then, can a Catholic justify passing the buck on who our pope truly is?
2. And what is this nonsense about the true identity of our pope being known by “all Christianity”? Is Mundabor denying that Christians can be in error about the pope? What about St. Vincent Ferrer, who erroneusly recognized antipope Benedict XIII?
3. Mundabor also indulges in horrible strawmen, casting the reasoning of Benedict’s supporters as “this Pope is so atrocious that he cannot be Pope.” At least with regard to Barnhardt and her likes (e.g., Bugnolo, et al.), this is grossly inaccurate (much less horribly uncharitable). As I understand it, their analysis begins, first and foremost, not with any deficiencies of Bergoglio as pope, but with the deficiencies of Benedict’s renunciation.
4. And the one that possibly takes the cake, which Frank mentions, is Mundabor’s idea that “what these escapist Catholics all fail to understand is the magnitude of the betrayal of Vatican II.” Boy, talk about escapism! Dear Mundabor proves himself to be the escape artist par excellence!

She is said to have repented and ended her life in serious penance. She fooled virtually the entire Catholic European world. A life and time far more faithful than ours…..so I agree…we can’t survive one Francis, let alone 50.
