I’m fairly new to your rather perspicacious commentary. I appreciate your succinct raising of issues that deserve serious consideration.
Regarding the silly blather about husbands being “fully present” (whatever that means to a SNAG (sensitive new age guy)), any woman who is somewhat disoriented and uncertain of the sublime dignity of motherhood, perhaps pulled to and fro with emotional and hormonal changes, needs the stability of a man who loves his wife and child to rest in with confidence; not an effeminate reed in the wind of fantasy.
My guess is that a woman would feel betrayed by a “man” who did not stand solid in her travail.
I must also commend you for your publishing material that is defensive of George Cardinal Pell. Although I live on the other side of the country from Pell and I was utterly dismayed by his widely publicised “debate” with Richard Dawkins which he resoundingly lost, I have more recently dug into his past which indicates to me that he is a loyal churchman trying to walk a broken tightrope between Apostolic Christianity and Vatican II Modernism.
Thanks, David. There are rumors in Catholic circle about Cd. Pell, but nothing I’ve read makes the latest trial seem honest. If he goes to the high court and loses, I would not be surprised if they eventually defrocked him, since FrancisChurch perpetrators seem desperate to find Catholics to offset them.
I find it stunning, due to past knowledge of Steve Skojec, that he would make the statement that “the Catholic Church just does not have all the freaking answers”.
Actually, it does. There is nothing else in the world that does. Only the Catholic Church “has the answers”. And it is the repository of them all.
In a way, I can’t blame Skojec. His thoughts are probably the kind I would also have if, like him, I accepted the premise that Bergoglio’s the Pope (ditto Ms. White). If Bergoglio’s really the Pope, then how could the Catholic Church be true? That’s the kind of doubt that FiPism tends to sow in faithful minds, which is another reason why Catholics should seriously reconsider the assumption that Bergoglio’s the Pope. Of course the Church is true.
