The thing has always horrified me. From the first moment I saw it in a photograph, sent to me by my traveling wife, my gut reaction was horror: what in the world is that satanic thing!? was exactly what I thought. They may say blah, blah, blah to explain it all. Whatever. What I see is a barren tree that dominates and consumes everything … including our resurrected Lord – who is at the center, true, but is not the main feature. He is subsumed (imo) just like he was subsumed into the Wiccan Stang, given as a gift to and then proudly held high by Bishop of Rome Bergoglio.

Why does Francis defend the confessional seal? Nothing new, but oh so expedient as he threads his way down the slippery Synodal Path.
Already in 2019 when Cardinal McCarrick got defrocked amid clanking opened cans of clerical abuse worms, the Apostolic Penitentiary of the Roman Curia under “supreme judge” Francis put out a proclamation: “We must be watchful that the sacramental seal is never violated by anyone and that the necessary reserve connected to the exercise of church minister is always jealously safeguarded, having as its only purpose the truth and integral good of the person.”
Wait a minute: What person might that be? Who on earth is “integrally good”?
“Any political action of legislative initiative aimed at breaking the inviolability of the sacramental seal would be an unacceptable offense against the liberty of the church. The secrecy extends to communications between a person and his or her spiritual director when dealing with matters of conscience… Spiritual directors of seminarians, like their confessors, are not permitted to intervene in seminary staff discussions about whether a candidate should be ordained… The same kind of ‘professional secret’ or confidentiality found in relations between some professionals and their clients or patients is valid also for church officials acting on behalf of the Vatican in certain cases, particularly when the case is covered under ‘pontifical secret.’ “ [thedialog.org]
No surprise that the Vicar of Pontifical Secrets, not to mention False Analogies and International Stunts, would want reaffirmation of diplomatic immunity, i.e. downside protection for himself and his crony legions.
Among the “Principles” of the new Constitution (unveiled March 19th), Francis can appoint any Catholic he considers qualified to lead a Vatican office (the Apostolic Penitentiary, for example). Also, now incorporated into Church government is the Abuse Commission under Boston’s own Cardinal O’Malley, one of Francis’ top advisors and Chair of the Papal Foundation (who recently expressed deep criticism and grievance with EWTN over what he perceived as anti-Francis reports).
