I don’t disagree that what Barnhardt says is very likely true. But at this point I’m going to need more than Ganswein to convince me of the thought of our suffering Pope.
Every time you hear from Pope Benedict, you don’t actually hear from Pope Benedict, do you? It’s always filtered through another author. And then that author is interpreted by an opinion writer about what he meant and the implications.
All we really know about Benedict’s mind and intent and ontological reality is contained in his resignation letter – which he read from the Papal Chair with his own lips. Everything else has been filtered through his jailers or his visitors. That won’t cut it any more.
All we know is he resigned invalidly and he remains Pope. Why he did it – we don’t know. We know what Ganswein thinks about it … but I don’t care what he thinks. Our Holy Father is not talking to us directly and I won’t listen to his jailers any more. He’s Pope – not a synodal Pope (impossible) … just Pope.
Some speculate that Pope Benedict took the Papacy into a state of “Impediment”, due to grave danger beyond our capacity to understand. That’s possible, too. But we don’t know that either.
All we have from him are his last words from The Chair of Peter. So … He’s Pope. He’s imprisoned. Those who greedily replaced him are wreaking havoc on Holy Mother Church. But the Papacy is officially in the hands of Benedict for now. What comes next … we’ll just have to find out.
The speculation games about what he “meant to do” and is “trying to do to the Holy Office of Pope” (destroy it) – I think that is a dangerous game with great potential for deceit. He’s not saying directly. He chose what he chose from The Chair.
As far as I’m concerned – he’s Pope in an impeded Office in an unfaithful and highly destructive, dangerous Hierarchy.
