A picture is worth a thousand words. Cliches and an obvious Halloween connection aside, just look online at the Vicar of Spooks recently visiting Bahrain. Pale, deadpan, flanked by sheiks and imams in long white “thwabs” perfectly paired with white papal cassock, Francis glides along his ephemeral Synodal Path. In Islam, white clothing is intended to make everyone appear alike in front of Allah. Wearing the same clothes contributes to the sense of unity among pilgrims, no one superior to the other as they join in the holy journey (the “Hajj”). For Muslims, the endgame is “world religion” and establishment of “the House of Peace” where all infidels have been defeated: “We hear and we obey” (Quran Surah verses 51-52).
Ironically, however, white happens to be the color of mourning (le deuil blanc) in areas of Japan, the Indochinese mainland, India, and Africa. In China too, white has long been associated with death and “inauspicious chi energy.” All in all, I guess, after Abu Dhabi, we could say that the wearing of white was most appropriate for yet another “eclipse of the Church” ceremony on the Arabian peninsula.
Poor, lost Francis, promising us a counterfeit heaven on earth, a “brave new world.” He seems a ghostly personification of what Huxley prophesied in his book of the same name, specifically that NWO leaders will not be in military uniforms, but rather wear white coats (doctors, lab technicians, scientists, imams, popes…).
He seems also a ghoulish illustration of what George Orwell in his novel “1984” called “doublethink,” i.e. holding and accepting contradictory beliefs, ideas, and feelings simultaneously. Thus, “lies sound truthful, murder respectable, and an appearance of solidity is given to pure wind.”
