The SSPX exists to preserve Sacred Tradition. Their Charism is to connect the living members of the Body of Christ to the Sacred Deposit of Faith. Perhaps Bishop Strickland can define precisely how the SSPX “injure the Body of Christ”.
Has Bishop Strickland committed to eradicating the Holy Tridentine Mass within the Tyler Diocese; admit unrepentant sodomites to holy communion; placed bitch demon Pachamama statues in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception; con celebrated Holy Mass with Lutherans? If not, why not? Because, if his definition of “injury to the Body of Christ” is refusal to submit to sacrilegious orders from a debatably illegitimate Pope, then I would have to assume the answer is yes to everything. If not … Bishop Strickland is in the same boat as SSPX.
Sorry, Bishop Strickland, but you can’t have it both ways. You can’t throw stones at the SSPX for disobedience when you are obviously convicted to disobey yourself.
The object is Christ first; the Sacred Deposit of Faith second; obedience to the Pope a distant third, only context with one and two – the Communion of Saints.
Rich Raho, a theology teacher at a Chicago area Catholic school, makes the ultramontanist claim “that “Pope” Francis *is* the Magisterium”.
First of all, Jorge Bergoglio will never be Pope because he was “elected” while the current still reigned, who never resigned in accord with Canon Law and Sacred Tradition – Benedict retained the Office along with all its visible signs … that’s a no-no. Two cooperative visible Popes, for the first time in history. The Faithful are commanded by God to reject plain heresy such as that.
Second, the authority of the Magisterium subsists in Holy Mother Church, endowed upon Her by Jesus Christ Himself. *Within* Holy Mother Church, the (*valid*) Pope and Bishops in union with him exercise their personal magisterial authority – but only to the extent they are unified with the Sacred Deposit of Faith … they *cannot* make stuff up, burn, pillage, loot our Sacred Treasures. THAT they CAN NOT do.
In sum – Francis is not Pope, and even if he were, he is not “THE” Magisterium. The Pope is Her servant, not Her master.
